Bangalow Lions Kiosk at the Showgrounds
The Bangalow Lions Kiosk — a place at the heart of the Showgrounds where community, food, and fun come together. Run by your local Lions Club, the kiosk is much more than just a place to grab a bite or a drink — it’s a gathering spot, a venue booster, and a vital supporter of local events and causes.
What is the Lions Kiosk?
- The Kiosk is a purpose-built building opened in 2021 to replace the old, weather-vulnerable shed that had served for 30 years.
- It features a commercial-grade kitchen, storeroom, large cool-room, well-appointed servery, and a new bar.
- The front veranda provides shelter and seating for patrons — designed for comfort and functionality.
Its Role in the Community
- Supports events held at the Showgrounds, such as the Bangalow Show, monthly markets, local festivals, and community gatherings.
- The kiosk helps to generate funds for the maintenance of the Showgrounds and supports Lions’ other charitable work.
- It brings people together — whether it’s volunteers serving, visitors enjoying refreshments, or neighbours catching up under the veranda.
Facilities & Capacity
- The building is built to host crowds — the veranda alone can accommodate 100 seated patrons, with additional standing room under the cover.
- The bar is fully licensed for approved events.
Hire & Events
- The kiosk is available for hire, particularly as part of booking the Showgrounds. It can be used for functions, meetings, markets, or any approved event requiring refreshment or bar services.
- Because the Lions hold the liquor licence, events that need a bar or drink service can utilise the kiosk for that component.
Why the Kiosk Was Built
- After the old makeshift shed was severely damaged in a thunderstorm during the Bangalow Show, the Lions and the community saw the need for a safer, more durable facility.
- Funding came from a mix: about 60% from a NSW Government grant, the rest from Lions’ fundraising efforts, contributions from local clubs and individuals.
- The goal was — and remains — to provide a facility that will serve generations, make Showground events better, and be a source of pride for Bangalow.
